DID you know about "COMMANDER" & "Telephone Systems" ??
Telstra as we now know it today used to be called Telecom, in the pre-deregulation days their telephone systems were re-badged as "Commander". A "Commander" type system is now becoming more commonly known as a "Key Telephone System" or PBX. Alcatel call their Key Telephone System "the OXO" or "OMNI PCX Office" and NEC have always had a range of system systems (AK, DK, NDK 9000, Pro Ranger, Xen (Master, Axis, and Alpha) and now the IPK) as opposed to Telecom's "Commander" systems.Telecom used to use a lot of NEC systems in large buildings known as PABX's When most people ask for a "commander" system in Australia, they really mean a Key Telephone System or PBX. Some years ago the name "Commander" was purchased, to capitalise on the Australian recognition of that brand name. In actual fact, EVEN TODAY the "Commander" brand simply uses re-badging of other products.. Alcatel have to be regarded as one of the leading World Wide telephone systems, having the capabilities of ISDN Connectivity with Caller-id and CLI, VoIP applications. NEC's range of Key Telephone Systems or PBX's are also reliable and very well know in the Australian market place.
